Town of Normal officials are once again eyeing federal funding for a railroad underpass at Uptown Station. The Pantagraph reports Normal will apply for $16 million in Transportation Investments Generating Economic Recovery money for a pedestrian underpass project. This is the same funding source which was used in 2009 paid $22 million to build the station. Applications are due Oct. 16 for $500 million in projects across the country ranging from $5 million to $25 million each to “have significant impact on the nation, a metropolitan area, or a region.”
