Three students and a bus driver were reported injured at the scene of an overturned Unit 5 school bus on U.S. 150 and Abraham Road in Bloomington near Evans Jr. High where 47 children were on board.
“For the bus sliding off into, and turning on its side, we could have had many more injuries, and perhaps even a level of severe injuries,” said Dr. Mark Daniel, Unit 5 Superintendent.
A second school bus accident was also reported on Old Peoria Road west of Bloomington Wednesday afternoon. Officers confirmed the bus was in the ditch but students had exited the bus and no injuries were reported in that incident.
