17-year-old Michael Cummins of Farmer City will be tried as an adult on a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class X felony. If convicted, he could face a possible sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Cummins is accused of shooting a 17-year-old boy in the abdomen with a hand gun on Wednesday. The victim is recovering at Carle Hospital in Urbana with non life-threatening injuries. Cummins is slated for a preliminary hearing April 24.
