The Illinois Senate failed to override a veto of firearms-dealer licensing by the deadline Wednesday. Democrats in the Senate, where the veto process would start, said they had enough votes to reverse Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner’s veto of the plan, but the Senate didn’t want to act until members were certain the House would follow suit, and House votes fell short.
