The Illinois State Police has arrested a suspect in Eureka in connection with a decades-old cold case in Washington state.
WEEK TV reports Illinois State Police Lt. Matthew Boerwinkle as saying the ISP assisted the Tacoma, Washington Police Department in the arrest of a suspect in the 1986 child murder case of 13-year-old Jennifer Bastian when asked if the ISP had involvement in an incident in Eureka Thursday.
The suspect, 60-year-old Robert D. Washburn of Eureka, was located and arrested today by the Tacoma Police Department in conjunction with out of state authorities. The suspect will be transported to Tacoma, Washington for prosecution. Tacoma police said they hope to have the suspect extradited to Washington state by Monday.
Meahwhile, Washburn is being held in the Woodford County Jail on a Washington state murder warrant.
