He is a 27-year veteran of the Bloomington Police Department he is expected to succeed Brendan Heffner as police chief. He is Assistant Police Chief Clay Wheeler.
The City of Bloomington released in a statement today that Interim City Manager Steve Rasmussen will officially appoint Wheeler to lead the department at the City Council’s meeting Monday night.
Heffner leaves the department Friday and will be sworn in as the new U.S. marshal for the Central District of Illinois on Monday at the federal courthouse in Peoria.
