At a special meeting on Monday, the City Council voted unanimously to grant 14 entertainment venues licensed by the city to sell alcohol the ability to apply for secondary licenses to serve alcohol off site at special venues for festivals, concerts and sporting events. City code already allows restaurants, taverns and packaged liquor license holders to sell alcohol at specific times and under certain conditions for special events at non-residential, public places. According to published reports, this applies to The Castle Theatre; The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts; Grossinger Motors Arena; Prairie Vista, Highland, The Den at Fox Creek and Links at Ireland Grove Road golf courses; Pheasant Lanes and Twin City Lanes & Bowlers Pro bowling alleys ; the Ovation 10 and Galaxy 14 movie theaters; the Shakespeare Festival; Lincoln Springs Center at 1611 Morrissey Drive; and Chuck E Cheese at 1701 E. Empire St. All of the terms and conditions of a primary liquor license will extend to the temporary venue, including the license holder submitting proof of the adequate Dram Shop insurance covering the secondary location.
