A strong winter storm will lift north toward Illinois tonight, and pass across southeast Illinois through Thursday afternoon. A swath of snowfall will occur, mainly from SW Illinois toward east-central Illinois. An area of light icing may develop in portions of east-central and southeast Illinois on Thursday. Snowfall totals of trace amounts to an inch will reside along the Illinois River Valley, with 1-3″ from Jacksonville to Bloomington. The highest totals look to occur south of Taylorville to Effingham to Olney, where 3 to 5″ are expected. Locally higher amounts will be possible.
