The Bloomington Police Department on Monday presented its request the city council for officer body cameras and dashboard cams in their squad cars. Monday night, BPD Police Chief Clay Wheeler and Assistant Chief Dan Donath their presentation to the presented the council. It would cost nearly $145,000 a year for 5 years to buy and operate the new equipment. They say the Axxon body camera will save them 4000 hours annually between setting them up and saving data to a cloud. The city will likely vote on the issue at their next meeting on November 26th.
