A central Illinois man is looking at two years of probation and 200 hours of community service after admitting that he killed a pair of dogs. Gary Eustice told a judge in Bloomington that he had no idea it was against the law to kill the dogs by locking them in his garage, and letting his car run. Eustice says he didn’t kill the dogs out of anger or hate, but rather to avoid the cost of taking them to the vet to be put down.
