It’s not the Christmas they had in mind as the town of Gridley’s largest employer closed its doors and left 115 people without a job Wednesday. Kerry Inc. closed the Ringger Foods plant in Gridley Wednesday citing a drop in demand for cereal that is produced at the plant. The Pantagraph reports workers were offered severance packages, based on their experience, and in some cases, positions at other Kerry facilities. In June, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported food preparation violations at the facility, saying some of the cereal was prepared, packed or held under unsanitary conditions.
