Longtime Chicago Alderman Ed Burke is denying any wrongdoing after being charged with attempted extortion. A federal criminal complaint unsealed yesterday claims Burke used his position as alderman to try to steer business to his private law firm from a company seeking to renovate a fast-food restaurant in his ward. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
