The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is reportedly floating an offer to operate the Lincoln Home National Historic Site during the government shutdown.
Chris Wills with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) tells NewsChannel 20 and Fox Illinois in Springfield there may be a plan to reopen the Lincoln Home soon.
NewsChannel 20 and Fox Illinois reports the ALPLM would oversee volunteers providing tours of the site and pay for security and janitorial staff, but visitor’s center at the site will likely remain closed.
The offer was reportedly sent to the National Park Service which is currently considering the offer.
