Here’s our initial thinking on snowfall with our storm system Friday night into Saturday night. A fairly large area has potential for seeing at least 6 inches of snow, and includes locations from Pittsfield to Springfield to Effingham southwest. Much of the remainder of central Illinois is likely to see 4 to 6 inches. This will be falling over an extended period, so we’re not expecting all 6 inches to fall in a short amount of time. The heaviest snowfall will be late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
