Snow is expected to develop across much of Central Illinois Friday evening. Precipitation may begin as a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain south of I-72. Current expectations are for most of the area north of I-70 to receive 4 to 6 inches of new snowfall before the storm moves east of the area Saturday evening. In addition, north winds will increase to around 20 mph with gusts occasionally exceeding 30 mph by midday Saturday leading to blowing and drifting of the snow. Hazardous driving conditions are expected to develop Friday Night and continue into the weekend. Stay tuned for later forecasts as the storm approaches.
