Illinois’ new governor wants to take a new look at the state’s veterans homes, with hopes to find new problems. Governor J.B. Pritzker on Friday ordered the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and the Illinois Department of Public Health to inspect all four of the state’s homes. The governor wants to make sure there aren’t any other lingering health problems. Thirteen Illinois veterans have died from Legionnaires since 2015, dozens more were sick. In addition to the health review, the governor is ordering the agencies to see how they can improve on communication and other internal policies.
