A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 am to 4 pm today, across the northern portions of central Illinois. Lingering cold air will still be in place as precipitation moves into the area from the west. Although most of the northern half of Illinois may see brief periods of freezing rain, the area within the Advisory is most likely to see accumulations up to a tenth of an inch, before transitioning over to rain later this afternoon.
