A new fire station is coming to the Northeast side of Normal and some residents are not happy about it. The Normal town council voted Tuesday night to re-zone 1.7 acres of land to build a new fire station on the corner of Hershey and Shepard. Neighbors are claiming it will negatively affect their property values, but the town leaders passed the proposal unanimously anyway because they believe this the best way to reach their overall goals with one of them improving the response times for fire and first aid.
