Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is asking for more time to figure out what to do about the state’s largest public employee union. The new governor yesterday asked an appeals court for an extension in negotiating with AFSCME. The union battled with Governor Bruce Rauner for years over a new contract, and AFSCME members largely supported Pritzker in his race against the former governor. AFSCME says it wants pay raises, and cheaper health insurance in its next contract.
