A central Illinois nursing home is closing its doors, it says, because the state of Illinois doesn’t pay enough to care for the people who live there. Managers at LeRoy Manor say Illinois’ low Medicaid reimbursement rates are forcing them to close. Under Medicaid, the state pays about half the cost to care for the sick, the elderly and the poor. The federal government pays the other half. LeRoy Manor managers say it costs them 200-dollars-a-day per person, but they only get 140 dollars-a-day per person back from the state.
