Nearly two-million school kids in Illinois should spend less time taking the state’s standardized test next month. The Illinois State Board of Education yesterday said most elementary and junior high students will only spend about six hours taking the test this year. It was closer to nine hours last year. The test also has a new name this year. It’s no longer the PARCC test as kids will now take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness.
