The man wanted in connection with a police shooting at a Rockford, Illinois hotel this morning is surrounded by cops in the central part of the state. John Pozzi, Deputy Chief in the Rockford Police Department, says police have Floyd Brown contained.
Brown is wanted in connection with shooting and killing officer Jacob Keltner with the U.S. Marshals Task Force at an Extended Stay Hotel in Rockford, Illinois this morning. The Task Force was attempting to serve Brown with several arrest warrants. Officers found Brown’s vehicle in the Bloomington area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Brown kept going and eventually crashed along Interstate 55. I-55 was shut down by police and they were able to contain Brown, but he’s currently not in custody.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross said her office has since issued an arrest warrant for Brown on first degree murder charges for the officer shooting. Ross said a five-million-dollar bond warrant was issued for Brown and he faces between 20 and 80 years in prison with the potential for life in prison.
