You may want to go buy some reusable bags now. An Illinois Senate panel yesterday unanimously approved a seven cent tax on plastic shopping bags. Five cents of the tax would go to the state, another two cents would go to the store. Even the state’s retailers are on-board, they say because the proposal won’t hurt stores. The plan now heads to the full Illinois Senate for a vote.
