
The Rockford shooting suspect, 39 year-old Floyd E. Brown of Springfield, has an extensive background of criminal history in several Illinois counties. The US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force was attempting to serve an arrest warrant at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Rockford when Brown allegedly fired shots. The incident resulted in the death of a McHenry Sheriff’s Office deputy and inured a female acquaintance of Brown.
Brown’s criminal history:
Sangamon County:
2000 – 10 felony criminal charges. Brown pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and was charged with two years of probation.
2001 – Brown was charged with reckless discharge of a weapon and violating previous probation.
Again in 2001, Brown pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight years. However, he only had to serve a portion of his sentence.
2005 – Brown was charged with home invasion, unlawful restraint and was charged with 30 months behind bars. Brown also pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection.
2010 – Brown pleaded guilty to endangering the life of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
McLean County
2013 – Brown was charged with four counts of residential burglary.
2014 – Brown was charged with 12 counts of residential burglary.
Macon County
2013 – Brown was charged with six counts of residential burglary and was sentenced to 13 years.
