In the opening statements of the Kirk Zimmerman murder trial this morning, First Assistant State’s Attorney Brad Rigdon said Kirk Zimmerman’s desire to end his child support obligations was behind the November 2014 fatal shooting of his ex-wife, Pamela. The Pantagraph reports defense lawyer John Rogers argued that Zimmerman did not shoot anyone adding that Zimmerman’s life at the time of the slaying was “happy, ” claiming the 60-year-old had moved on and was dating another woman. The trial is expected to last 4 to 6 weeks.
