Despite opposition, plans for a new Normal fire station in the Blackstone Trails Subdivision on the town’s northeast side will go forward. The Normal Town Council Monday approved a plan to rezone an area to allow construction for the fire station. Several people have earlier expressed concerns of noise and reduced property values over moving the fire station area. The town says the new station would improve response times.
