Ford Motor Company is investing $500 million into Normal, Illinois automaker Rivian to help develop a new electric vehicle. WEEK-TV reports Ford is looking to use Rivian’s “skateboard” platform to help develop their new electric vehicle. Rivian plans to roll out a five-passenger R1T pickup and R1S SUV in late 2020. Ford already has an electric Mustang-inspired crossover and zero-emissions version of the F-150 pickup headed to the market, but the company said its collaboration with Rivian will be all-new.
