Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx won’t testify before the county board tomorrow to discuss her office’s handling of the case involving Empire actor Jussie Smollett. In a letter to the board, Foxx said testifying would be inappropriate because the county’s inspector general is currently reviewing the matter. County Commissioner Sean Morrison asked Foxx last month to appear before the board to explain her office’s abrupt decision to drop charges accusing Smollett of staging a fake hate crime attack in Chicago in January. Morrison said the board will invite Foxx again when the IG’s investigation is complete.
