
Authorities in Virginia Beach said 11 people were killed by a disgruntled utility worker who opened fire at a municipal center in Virginia Beach on Friday, according to police, who said the shooter was killed by police.
Police chief James Cervera told reporters during a press conference that the employee was a current worker who walked into Building 2 and began firing at people inside.
At least six people were wounded during the attack, Cervera said.
Sentara Healthcare tweeted that five patients were being treated at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and a sixth was being transferred to the Trauma Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
