Illinois has a new budget, a new building plan, and a bunch of new laws. Lawmakers wrapped up their business at the Capitol over the weekend. They agreed to a 40 billion-dollar state budget, a 45 billion-dollar plan to build new roads, bridges, and schools, and they approved dozens of new laws. The legislature voted to legalize marijuana, expand gambling in the state, and guarantee abortion protections for women. Governor JB Pritzker said the amount that lawmakers accomplished is amazing.
