
Bloomington police officers were dispatched to an apartment located in the 1300 block of Hershey Road for an “in-progress” domestic violence incident. It was reported that a male suspect was physically abusing a female victim.
Officers arrived on scene and attempted to make contact with the victim. Due to exigent circumstances, the officers kicked in the apartment door to help the victim. The suspect climbed out of a window and ran away on foot. Several second shift officers began to pursue the suspect on foot. The officers located and arrested the suspect.
During the foot pursuit, two officers were injured. One officer suffered minor injuries, the other officer suffered a serious knee injury. The victim received minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital at that time. The suspect who was arrested was identified as Jared Bieniek, 33, of Bloomington.
Jared Bieniek was charged with:
Aggravated Domestic Battery / Strangle victim
Unlawful Restraint
Two counts of Resisting a Police Officer with Injury
Two county of Domestic Battery (physical contact and bodily harm)
Two counts of Resisting a Police Officer
His bond was set at $150,000 – 10% to apply. No more information will be released at this time.
