Shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday, officers from the Normal Police Department, along with Normal Fire Personnel, responded to the north side of the parking deck at the corner of Mulberry and Constitution Boulevard in Normal for an individual lying on the ground near the entrance to the deck. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying unresponsive in the grassy area on the north side of the parking garage. There were obvious signs of severe trauma caused by the fall and the individual had no signs of life.
Representatives from the coroner’s office responded and the male was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of family and next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for later this morning.
The preliminary investigation indicates the male drove to the parking deck and jumped to his death, in an apparent suicide. The case remains under investigation by the Normal Police Department and the McLean County Coroner’s Office but there is no indication of foul play at this time. Anyone with information concerning this case should contact the Normal Police Department at (309)454-9535.
