Testimony continued into the second day in the murder trial of Cynthia Baker.
Prosecutors claim Baker kicked Rountree so hard in the stomach the child died as a result of her injuries. She faces six charges in connection to her 8-year-old stepdaughter’s death and if found guilty, could be sentenced to natural life in prison.
According to published reports, on Thursday, Baker’s biological 7-year-old daughter took the stand saying said she remembers her mother kicking her sister in the stomach, then laughing. Her daughter said the Rountree girl was often in trouble but did not do anything to deserve punishment, adding that the little girl was not allowed to even sit on the couches in their home.
