Data obtained by the Belleville News-Democrat shows Illinois State Police have revoked more than 42,000 others FOID cards, yet only 37% of people actually turned them in.
Once someone receives a letter from ISP saying their card is revoked, within 48 hours they are supposed to surrender their card and indicate whether they’ll transfer their guns to another person or give them over to police.
Illinois is the only state in the country that requires a FOID card to buy or own a gun. You must have a Conceal Carry License to carry a gun on you.
