Illinois lawmakers are calling on House Speaker Michael Madigan to resign from his post, according to WLDS Radio.
Republicans Mark Batinick, Randy Frese, Margo McDermed and Tom Morrison are urging Madigan to resign amid an FBI dragnet and sexual harassment cases from the last year.
WLDS Radio reports Batinick is also calling on Illinois Auditor General Frank Mautino to step down after he allegedly used campaign money for personal use. Morrison is in agreement with Batinick.
McDermed said in a press release she supports Madigan’s resignation after 200 people signed a letter in Springfield that alleged harassment either at the Statehouse or at Madigan’s offices, per WLDS Radio.
She also mentioned Madigan’s refusal to advance heavy ethics reform bills during the last veto session.
