Cynthia Baker, the woman who was found guilty of killing her 8-year-old stepdaughter by kicking her in the stomach has retained a new lawyer to argue for ineffective counsel.
Baker was found guilty by jury on November 19 for first-degree murder of Rica Rountree, and could face life in prison
Baker’s new counsel,Phil Finegan, says a January 3 hearing will be held with plans to ask the judge to vacate her sentencing and ask for time to review court transcripts and discoveries to file a motion with allegations of ineffective counsel.
