Despite school buses having cross arms, stop signs and even cameras, drivers still pass illegally.
But come the first of the year, they’ll pay double the fines.
Right now the fine is $150, which will double to $300 in 2020. A second offense will cost you $1,000.
Educators say students getting to and from school safely is one of their biggest jobs. They say they’re glad to see this extra deterrent.
You do need to stop for buses with cross arms out on a one-way street or two-lane road. You do not have to stop if you’re traveling the opposite direction on a four-lane road… With double yellow lines or a turn lane in the middle.
