A disabilities group is responding to Chicago Amtrak’s attempt to charge some wheelchair-using passengers 25-thousand dollars for a trip to Bloomington, Illinois.
Access Living organized a demonstration outside the Normal Amtrak station Wednesday.
The charge was intended to cover reconfiguration of a railcar to create space for the wheelchairs.
Amtrak says they are suspending the policy in question and will accommodate the Access Living group’s trip.
