
The annual Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Competitive Cheerleading State Finals will take place February 7-8, 2020 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Downtown Bloomington. This will be the 15th time Bloomington-Normal has hosted the IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Finals.
Of the 297 high school cheerleading teams in Illinois, the top 100 from across the state will travel to Bloomington-Normal to compete in 4 classes – small, medium, large and coed.
Small and medium team preliminary performances will begin Friday at 9 a.m., followed by large and coed preliminary performances at 3:30 p.m. Doors open to Grossinger Motors Arena on Saturday at 10 a.m. for team finals and team awards. Tournament organizers are anticipating more than 13,000 fans to attend the 2-day event.
Tickets are $10 per day for general seating and can be purchased in advance by contacting the Grossinger Motor Arena ticket office (309-434-2679). General seating tickets will also be available at the door.
“As we approach our 15th year of the IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Final here in Bloomington Normal, it is quite remarkable to see how far the student athletes have come,” said IHSA Assistant Executive Director Susie Knoblauch. “With over 2,000 cheerleaders competing at Grossinger Motors Arena, you couldn’t ask for more of a high energy event that will definitely entertain!”
The estimated direct economic impact of hosting the 2020 IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Finals in Bloomington-Normal is $1,073,000.
