A group of advocates is suing Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and the Illinois State Board of Elections over problems with the state’s automatic voter registration system.
The federal lawsuit claims the secretary of state’s office and the elections board have ignored criticism and offers of help implementing the program.
The suit was filed Friday by organizations including the Chicago branch of Asian Americans Advancing Justice, Common Cause Illinois, and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
