U.S. Reps. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) and Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) announced today that the McLean County YWCA Retired & Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) has received $65,633 in Senior Corps funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
“This is great news for the Bloomington-Normal community,” said Davis. “This program through the YWCA not only helps many who are retired stay active within the community, but in turn, they help families who are in need, provide local teachers with help in the classroom, and other volunteer services within McLean County.”
“YWCA provides important services to retired individuals throughout McLean County, and this funding is great news for our community,” said Rep. LaHood. “The Senior Corps. funding awarded to YWCA will support their continued efforts in McLean County to engage senior and retired volunteers who support those in need, mentor youth, help teachers, and provide job readiness training.”
“We are grateful for another three years of support from CNCS,” said YWCA Senior Director of Adult Services Vicki Hightower. “We are honored to be able to continue serving our community through volunteerism.”

The RSVP Program is one of America’s largest volunteer networks for people 55 and older, engaging volunteers to use their skills and experience to tackle a diverse range of activities. Volunteers recruit and manage other volunteers, mentor and tutor disadvantaged children, respond to natural disasters, support workforce development by providing job readiness training, offer free tax preparation, and more.
