McLean County Health Department (MCHD) Activities
• MCHD is still open with some service modifications. Clients are asked to reschedule appointments for services if sick.
• Communicable Disease staff have been working with community partners to ensure adequate screening and
immediate isolation procedures are in place in preparation for McLean County cases.
• Promoting key messages to the public to practice Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions, to avoid travel to countries with
sustained ongoing transmission and to call your healthcare provider if you develop COVID-19 symptoms in order to
receive instructions on how to access healthcare services.

Expectations for the Community
• Observe the Shelter-In-Place Executive Order and only leave your home if necessary.
• Older people and people with severe chronic conditions should take special precautions because they are at higher
risk of developing serious COVID-19 illness.
• Understand that there are limited testing supplies at state and commercial laboratories at this time. This has resulted
in the need to prioritize testing to those most in need.
• Stay at home if you are sick.
• There is currently no vaccine or other medical countermeasures for COVID-19.
• Follow MCHD guidance regarding quarantine or isolation, when advised to do so.
• Practice non-pharmaceutical interventions recommended by the CDC, including:
o Avoid ill people
o Stay home when ill
o Wash hands (soap and water or use hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol)
o Cover cough and sneezes
o Disinfect surfaces regularly

COVID-19 Testing Criteria
• Is COVID-19 testing available? – Yes. Healthcare providers have been provided the criteria that has to be met for
residents to be tested. Criteria for testing is constantly updated to keep up with the evolving response.
• How many have been tested? – There have been approximately 123 residents tested for COVID-19 through state and
commercial labs as of 3/25/2020.
• Is anyone being monitored? – Yes. MCHD staff are actively monitoring any identified individuals who are at high risk for exposure to COVID-19. Residents who meet criteria for monitoring are provided information on self- quarantining, symptoms, and what to do if they develop symptoms.
