The Chicago Tribune reports four Chicago aldermen have filed notice to force a special meeting of the City Council later this week to address looting and call for the National Guard to be deployed.
The group also wants regular monthly meetings to discuss public safety issues.
Chicago law allows aldermen to force a City Council meeting, though the tactic is rarely used. The council is on its traditional August recess. While aldermen can force a meeting, a majority of the City Council members would need to be present to go forward.
