“The material, the covers themselves were not obscene in any way. They are a part of our adult collection, there was some explicit content in these. I don’t know they would be considered pornography in of themselves. We were not displaying sexually explicit covers,” said BPL Director Jeanne Hamilton.

“When it comes to my children the fact that my 7-year old could have picked this up and his mind would’ve been changed forever. I should not have to have my kid on the leash in the library,” said Jesse Simmons.
Parents and patrons are beginning to ask the question: Does this violate obscenity law?

This picture is within the book “Patience and Esther.” The picture has been blurred by Cities. This book was on the same display as Dr. Suess’ “Green Eggs & Ham”

This is a scene in the book “Patience and Esther” a book marked ‘Adults Only’ by the publisher. “Hopefully it was an honest mistake,” said one patron. “It seems a bit careless.”
Amid the Bloomington Public Library display case media coverage, a parent reached out to Cities and said that the schools should be the community’s saving grace.
