Update 12/01/2021: McLean Coroner Kathy Yoder is releasing the following additional information
related to the fatal pedestrian traffic crash that occurred on 11/29/21. Pronounced deceased at 16:16
hours on November 30, 2021 was Danielle Fairchild, age 23, of Normal, Illinois. Preliminary autopsy
results indicate that Ms. Fairchild died from craniocerebral injuries due to a pedestrian struck by an
automobile.

A woman is dead following a vehicle versus pedestrian strike in Normal on Monday.
Normal Police Chief Rick Belichner said in a release:
On November 29, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers from the Normal Police Department responded to College Avenue and Kingsley for a single vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash.
Upon arrival officers located the vehicle and provided initial care to the 23-year-old female pedestrian who sustained serious injuries. Normal Fire Department staff transported the pedestrian to an area hospital to receive critical care. The McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team, (MCART) was called and are assisting with the investigation into the traffic crash. The driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to stop and yield right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
At 4:28 pm on Tuesday, November 30, the McLean County Coroner’s Office received notification from Carle BroMenn Medical Center that the pedestrian involved in this crash had died at 4:16 pm.
The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of family and next of kin.
An autopsy is scheduled for December 1, 2021, at 8:30 a.m.
This incident remains under investigation by the Normal Police Department, McLean County Coroner’s Office, and the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team.
