Unit 5 Dads come in to discuss the continued masking of children. Now since this was recorded the district has gone mask-recommended! The Roundtable feature dads: John Les, Jeremy Lee and John Lundy. Also joining the dads is D87 board member Fitzgerald Samedy, who has been against the mandatory masking of children for some time.
Also since the time of this recording, an Illinois appeals court has dismissed an appeal of a judge’s ruling that invalidated Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s requirement that masks be worn in schools to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Also since the recording of this EXCLUSIVE Roundtable a bipartisan legislative committee [JCAR] in Springfield suspended the renewal of the state’s emergency mask mandate in schools. District 87 has also gone mask-recommended.
“I can speak for everyone at that board meeting… those positions on the board are elected and I’m a voter with a very long memory. It is the board that appoints the Superintendent. Four board members are up for election in 2023. Maybe it is time for a change. It is a shame that these same parents, who elected you in that position, had to go and fight for what the parents want done,” said John Lundy, a Unit 5 dad.
