Interstate 55 southbound near Mile Marker 151, McClean County… two people died and three are hospitalized.
Preliminary information indicates the following occurred: ISP District 6 responded to a five-unit motor vehicle crash.
At approximately 3:55 p.m. the Interstate 55 southbound lanes were closed for the investigation and traffic was diverted off at Exit 154; all lanes were reopened at approximately 12:39 a.m. There is no further information available at this time.
One person sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene, one person was transported from the scene by medical helicopter and pronounced deceased at the hospital and three people were transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
