Join Bloomington Normal Sunrise Rotary on Museum Square in Downtown Bloomington Friday, August 5, for their annual Brats & Bags fundraising event. The annual event features a brat lunch and an evening bags tournament. Proceeds from the event benefit Midwest Food Bank, Timber Point Outdoor Center, and Bloomington Public Library.
The brat lunch takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features your choice of a Johnsonville or vegan brat, bag of chips, and can of soda. Brats are cooked onsite and served fresh until they are sold out. Lunch tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the gate. Individual or group lunches can be purchased prior to the event and pre-orders of 15 or more lunches can opt for delivery.
After the grill cools, the fun sets in with a bags tournament kicking off at 5 p.m. Teams will play in a round robin match and then will be divided into two brackets: competitive and social. Prizes for the competitive bracket include $300 for first, $200 for second, and $100 for third place. Prizes for the social bracket include $100 for first and $50 for second. Teams of two can register for $50 prior to the event and $100 on the day of the event. Beer and food from local vendors will be available for purchase during the tournament.
