Sources tell Cities Josh Barnett could be looking a Bloomington city council run, specifically in Ward 8. This is after his recent appearance is an ad for Democrat Gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker.
Barnett claims to have been a “lifelong Republican until 2022” but admits to voting for Governor J.B. Pritzker in 2018. Perhaps he meant to say 2018? Barnett did not vote to keep McLean County off lock down when the pandemic struck, meanwhile county board Republican Chuck Erickson did.
“Darren Bailey is far too extreme for Illinois,” said Josh Barnett. “When you look at issues facing Illinois, Republicans are talking about problems but they aren’t looking at solutions.”
Ross Webb is running is Barnett’s old district alongside Chuck Erickson. Josh Barnett held the seat since 2016 and Webb voted for Barnett.
“When you are elected you are elected to serve your constituents. What Josh has done here… I am really let down as someone who voted for him. If Josh had some major conviction to transition over to the other side…he could have done this another way,” said Webb. “He could have resigned. He could have had someone fill the seat if he felt that compelled. I don’t know if he did this for political reasons…”
Webb said there is a major difference between the two parties right now…
“If you think things are going great right now in Illinois…although I would tell you for every 100 people that move out of Illinois there are only 42 coming in…this state and J.B. Pritzker the distinction is clear… he’s further Left than Joe Biden,” said Webb. “If the moderate Democrats were to see the extreme polices that are being pushed you would see a major turn around in 2022…”
Ross Webb expressed support for Darren Bailey.
