Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was asked at a press conference to comment on an ad that shows the video of a 45-year old Lakeview woman mugged in broad daylight by armed attackers. Rather than address the crime, Pritzker focused on the victim’s race, and speculated on the race of the attackers, assuming they were black.
Prtizker’s direct quote: “Look, it’s terrible. It’s a terrible commercial. Ah, they’ve chosen, ah, a particular crime in which there was a white woman who is the victim and apparently black perpetrators. That’s the ad they want people to see, particularly in the suburbs. That’s part of the entire racial tinge of everything that’s being put out by that PAC.”
In reference to the campaign ad which ran during the Bears game, I thought @GovPritzker was going to say “Look, it’s terrible what happened to that woman.”

PBR PAC President Dan Proft’s response to Pritzker:
“The race of the victim is what’s most important about the attack in question in Lakeview, governor?
Are we to use race as the critical factor in deciding whether to acknowledge victims or reckon with predators, governor?
And, actually, I can’t make out the race or races of the perpetrators on the video. The governor either has racial X-ray vision or just wants the attackers to be black.
That Pritzker is more concerned about racial profiles than he is about a woman being violently terrorized at the hands three men explains why Chicago and Illinois are both descending into lawlessness.”
Crime continues to soar and a so-called SAFE-T Act is expected to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023. Gov. Pritzker assumed office in 2019, he has presided over the state’s ascent from the 18th-highest to the top six nationally in felonious killings of law enforcement officers.
